FCAR HDS 600 Heavy-Duty Scanner with DPF Regeneration
The HDS 600 is a handheld heavy-duty diagnostic scanner and DPF regen tool for diesel trucks and commercial vehicles. It reads and clears fault codes, shows live data and runs DPF regeneration on the main North American truck and engine makes. It also has a generic OBD-II menu for 12V cars and light commercials.
DPF Regeneration and Reset
From the DPF menu you can start a forced regeneration, reset the soot level and clear DPF-related fault codes on:
- Cummins
- Detroit Diesel
- Caterpillar
- PACCAR
- International
- Volvo
- Mack
This includes North American trucks fitted with these engines, such as Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt and Western Star.
Truck Coverage
Fault code reading and clearing covers Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel and PACCAR engines, plus Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Western Star, Sterling, International, Volvo and Mack trucks. On Cummins engines, Smart Detect identifies the engine automatically.
The Diesel OBD menu reads standard SAE J1939 and J1708 data and supports the newer ISO 27145 (WWH-OBD) protocol. You can choose a Fast Scan or a Complete Scan, or test by year, make and system.
Brand-specific functions are limited to the truck and engine makes listed above. Other trucks, including Hino, Isuzu, Fuso, UD, Scania, MAN and DAF, can only be read through the generic Diesel OBD menu. For full-system diagnostics and DPF service on European and Japanese trucks, see the FCAR F9S-D.
Coverage is based on North American specifications. If you're not sure about your truck, send us the VIN or engine model and we'll check before you buy.
Cars and Light Commercials
The OBD-II menu works on OBD-II and EOBD compliant petrol and diesel vehicles, including Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki, Isuzu, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, GM, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, VW and Volvo. It covers:
- Read and clear engine fault codes
- Live data
- Freeze frame data
- I/M readiness status
- O2 sensor and on-board monitor tests
This is generic OBD-II. It doesn't give manufacturer-level access to other car systems.
Printer and Reports
The 80mm thermal printer prints fault codes and live data at the vehicle, so you don't need a computer to hand a report to the driver or customer. Test reports and screenshots also save on the tool.
Other Tools
- Pin Detect: measures the voltage on all 16 pins of the OBD socket and finds the K-line and CAN pins
- Auto VIN on supported vehicles
- Saved vehicle history for a faster start next time
Updates
Software and vehicle data update over Wi-Fi directly on the tool, with no PC needed.
